This Department encompasses multiple subject areas: History, Civics, Geography, Law, Philosophy, Economics and Politics. An important goal of this Department is to help students develop the knowledge, skills, and values they need to become responsible citizens and informed participants in Canadian society. Through the courses offered, students learn to assess how values, ideas and actions affect society and, in so doing, gain an understanding of Canada's heritage, physical, social, cultural, legal, and economic relationships. O'Neill offers many courses to allow students to explore physical, intellectual and social issues through its offering of courses such as Philosophy, Travel and Tourism and World Issues.
