Prerequisite:  AMU 3M1

This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and the twentieth century, including jazz, popular music, art music, and Canadian and non-Western music.  Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently.  They will also complete complex creative projects in which they make use of new technologies.  Music Fee:  $35.00

Prerequisite:  AMV 3M1

This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of various kinds of music, including baroque and classical music, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music.  Students will perform technical exercises and appropriate repertoire, complete detailed creative activities, and analyze and evaluate live and recorded performances.  They will continue to increase their understanding of the elements of music while developing their technical and imaginative abilities.  Music Fee:  $35.00

MUSIC – SENIOR JAZZ ENSEMBLE – UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE

CODE:  AMH 4M1 (Senior Jazz Band)

Prerequisite:  Music Grade 11 and Audition

This course develops students’ artistic knowledge and skills through the performance of music and the preparation of music productions.  Students will perform appropriate works, particularly works in the jazz style.  Independently and in groups, they will also plan, market and produce music, making use of appropriate technology, and the students will evaluate their results.  An audition is required.  Music Fee: $50.00

MUSIC – SENIOR WIND ENSEMBLE (REPERTOIRE) – OPEN

CODE:  AMR 4M1

Prerequisite:  Music Grade 11, and Audition

This course develops students’ artistic knowledge and skills through the performance of music, the study of music and its relationship with visual art, dance and drama and the preparation of music productions.  Students will perform appropriate works, particularly works in contemporary styles.  Independently and in groups, they will also plan, market, and produce music productions, making use of appropriate technology, and students will evaluate their results.  An audition is required.  Music Fee:  $50.00

MUSIC – SENIOR CHAMBER CHOIR – UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE

CODE:  AMJ 4M1

Prerequisite:  Music Grade 11 and Audition

This course develops students’ artistic knowledge and skills through the performance of music and the preparation of music productions.  Students will perform appropriate works, particularly works in contemporary popular styles.  Independently and in groups, they will also plan, market, and produce music productions, making use of appropriate technology, and students will evaluate their results.  An audition is required.
