MUSIC:  INSTRUMENTAL – EXPERIENCED – OPEN

CODE:  AMU 1O2   (for students who HAVE taken music in grade 7 and grade 8).

MUSIC – VOCAL – OPEN

CODE:  AMV 1O1   (for students who HAVE an interest in vocal music).

All Grade 9 courses emphasize the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill and are aimed at developing techniques, sensitivity, and imagination.  Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding.  They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use.  Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the Grade 9 Concert Band and Grade 9 Chamber Choir, which rehearse after regular school hours.

Each O’Neill Music and Performing Arts student is assessed a department fee.  The fee of $35.00 will cover the use of choral octavos, band and choral folios, workshops, the Friday Lunch Hour Concert Series, Festival entries, some busing, solo music and dance/drama materials.
