VISUAL ARTS – UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE

CODE:  AVI 4M1

Prerequisite:  AVI 3M1


The Elements and Principles provide the logical undercurrent for new, more mature subject matter and media experiences.  Clay Sculpture, and Sculpture from found objects as studio areas, Abstraction, and The Figure as a style and a subject matter genre, provide students with the body of work necessary for the portfolio requirement for entrance to most post-secondary institutions.  The payment of a Studio Materials Fee is required to help offset the cost of work in media appropriate to senior level studies in the Visual Arts.  Course/Studio Fee:  $30.00


 


VISUAL ARTS – PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT COURSE – UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE

CODE:  AWT 4M1

Co-requisite:  A credit in, or currently enrolled in, AVI 4M1


The Portfolio Development course has been created to respond to the Visual Art student’s need to develop a personal portfolio geared towards a specific post-secondary programme, equipping students for the study of Art in College and University programmes.  Students will continue to experiment with the Elements and Principles of Design and the expressive qualities of various materials while working within a wide range of media, processes, techniques, and styles while building their personal portfolios.   Students will look at the History of Art to develop criticism and analysis methods as well as sources of inspiration.  Students will develop a body of work and a portfolio to be presented at the conclusion of this course.  Course/Studio Fee:  $30.00

Co-requisite:  A credit in, or currently enrolled in, AVI 4M1


The Portfolio Development course has been created to respond to the Visual Art student’s need to develop a personal portfolio geared towards a specific post-secondary programme, equipping students for the study of Art in College and University programmes.  Students will continue to experiment with the Elements and Principles of Design and the expressive qualities of various materials while working within a wide range of media, processes, techniques, and styles while building their personal portfolio.  Students will look at the History of Art to develop criticism and analysis methods as well as sources of inspiration.  Students will develop a body of work and a portfolio to be presented at the conclusion of this course.  Students taking this course will be eligible to submit the associated Advance Placement Portfolio in Visual Arts.  Course/Studio Fee:  $30.00.  Cost of A.P. Processing: approx. $90.00
