The other entry-level for the O.C.V.I. Art Programme, and, an extension of the foundation studies of Year One, this course introduces students to newer, more sophisticated media while providing opportunities for more in-depth studies in the “less common” Art area of Subtractive Sculpture. Art History studies of the Art of the ancient world provide the starting point for the chronological survey program which will culminate in Year Four’s study of Modern Art. A supplementary Art Kit with new materials for work in new media is required, the cost of which is borne by an Art Fee, Studio/Kit Fee: approx. $30.00
VISUAL ARTS – APPLIED DESIGN AND ILLUSTRATION – OPEN

Co-requisite: A credit in, or currently enrolled in, AVI 2O1
Students will explore a variety of commercial art forms and applications, including Poster/DVD design, Package, and Textile Design, Toy Design, Logos, Graphics, and Product and Story Illustration. A variety of media and techniques including design marker and 3-D sculpture in the form of action figure maquettes, will enable students to experience what it means to be an artist whose creations impact on our daily lives. Key moments in the history of Design and Art History will serve as inspiration. Course/Studio Fee: approx. $30.00
Available to BOTH O’Neill students (with recommendation of their O.C.V.I. Art Teacher) & out-of-area students (after a Successful Portfolio Review).
